The best documentary about the making of a movie, the emotions and tensions behind the scenes and the psychic terror of a director trying to hold on to his artistic dream! A must-see.
Talk about a circus. The production of this movie was out of control. I would have loved to experience it though.
Great documentary about the grueling and disastrous filming of Apocalypse Now. Coppola was never the same after this production.
The magic and madness of making 'Apocalypse Now' : This one's a must watch for those who enjoyed Coppola's 1979 classic. The part that really struck me was when we see how Coppola and Sheen improvise the opening scene - the one where Sheen's character punches the mirror. Sheen's so inebriated that he doesn't realize how close he is to the mirror and ends up badly hurting his hand.
Mostly comprised of footage from Coppola's wife Eleanor, this documentary chronicles the extraordinary casting, shooting and budget problems that he had to overcome to give us this great classic.
A documentary that shows how Francis Ford Coppola's "Apocalypse Now" was created. It details the production problems and how it almost killed Francis Ford Coppola. Its amazing Apocalypse Now ever made it to post-production. You will not be disappointed with this.
The greatest behind the scenes look at the process of creation. I can watch it over and over. Simply brilliant. Coppola is my Hero.
Really fascinating documentary about a movie I still have no interest in seeing. I know, just call me a stupid person, but it just looks so evil and I don't want to go there.
If you even have a passing interest in Francis Coppola or Apocalypse Now you need to see this. Very interesting and revealing.
A simply stunning documentary on the amazing journey Francis Ford Coppola undertook making the legendary "Apocalypse Now." Wow, who the hell has that kind of conviction and fortitude today? This is a must see for ANYONE interested in the history of film and for film students in particular. Unbelievable.
Amazing doc chronicling the making of Apocalypse Now. What's so incredible is the viewer gets to see one of the toughest shoots to create one of the greatest films of all time. If you're an Apocalypse Now fan you must see this ASAP.
Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocalypse lui rend bien justice.
An awesome documentary on one of the best films ever, really fascinating to see all the happenings and the troubles and the immense pain of film-making. It's like what Billy Wilder said, he would beat his son as hard as he could if he knew he wanted to be a film-maker, and hoped that instead he will become a gardener.
Here is the chronicle of an incredible journey that would in the end become Apocalypse Now...true excellence takes great sacrifice and this film is a good reminder of just what a monumental task it is to see a vision through and craft it into a tangible cinematic experience...the revelations of chaos and struggle involved in what would become one of the greatest films of all time is truly astonishing...it's a real miracle feat that something filled with such uncertainty would ever become such a landmark masterpiece...this has to be the best movie about movie making ever made.
The best doco about movie making ever! It's no coincidence that it's about one of the best movies ever.
It's raw, honest, insightful, close to bone - fascinating, even after repeated viewings. It even seems better in this era of so called documentaries that are really just puff pieces about mediocre movies that are intended to make them seem like great works.
Francis is always great to listen to. Here, everyone's interesting.
Absolute essential viewing.
This documentary on APOCALYPSE NOW is even better than the movie, as it kind of is a good companion piece and record of why that movie did fall apart in its later act....and why Francis Ford Coppola hasn't been the same since.
This is one of the best documentaries I have ever seen. An odyssey through the mind and work of a genius. Disturbing, enlightening, entertaining.
Basically, a documentary on Francis Ford Coppola's nervous breakdown rather than a doc on Apocalypse Now.
One of the best documentaries about making a film ever made. Brings the subject movie more to life than before, and you are shown a more human side of hollywood film making than I have ever seen before or since.
Pieces that capture the creative process fascinate me, and this one makes me wonder how Francis Ford Coppola (and some others) survived the production of APOCALYPSE NOW. I can't believe there was so much documentary footage and audio of all of this stuff. It'll blow your mind.
